Because if the lesson is that Pneuma needs to sacrifice herself, than she shouldn't come back at all. Once again, give me a reason why Pyra/Mythra needs to lose her memories. See above, particularly the how dare you, for how I feel about you nodding your head at such toxic ideas, reducing polynamorous relationships to such base desires for control. Have you ever had a relationship like that? It's not healthy, its abusive and to demean this character down like that is fucking insulting. He knows how Pyra and Mythra will react, without them knowing anything about Rex. Why would you want this for Pyra/Mythra? Or for Rex, for that matter? This relationship is not a "unconventional relationship" it's an unhealthy one, because Rex holds the power. Jin's relationship with Haze is an example of someone who held an unfair power over her partner (Jin) and how it tore him apart. And let me just say, for those who actually have a unconventional relationship, how dare imply that things like consent and equality are not importnat in such relationships. I can now say very VERY confidently that you actively do not understand the message. I would also like to apologize if anything i said was demeaning. I would like to reiterate that i believe in the importance of trust, respect and consent in all relationships. Ultimately i felt that Rex's growth was handled well enough, especially in that moment where he takes Zeke's advice (I may have jumped up and started cheering on my couch when Zeke said that) that Rex and Pneuma would be able to have a healthy and loving kink based relationship. This was most evident at the end of the game when Zeke tells Rex (I'm paraphrasing) That being a true man in a healthy relationship requires having enough respect for your partner to allow them to make their own decisions. Jin and his relationship with Haze was presented as obviously unhealthy and contrasted by Zeke's relationship with Pandoria which was similar with respect to Kink themes but was clearly presented as healthy. I felt that XC2 was in many way exploring the range of different relationships within that space with driver and blade being codified equivalents of the terms master and slave. To be clear when i use the term unconventional relationships i am specifically referring to people who engage in BDSM and other kink activities where terminology like master and slave is common. They are arguably more important in unconventional relationships, since to push your personal limits with another person there has to be 100% trust. ![]() I 100% agree that consent and equality are important in all relationships. I was definitely not clear about what i was trying to say if you thought i was saying that. ![]() So all the themes and having Blades trapped in a cycle felt.dropped. Nothing really helps to carve out the future for their world other than Rex's promise "to do better!!!" I liked Klaus' role too, but it really takes over the main plot. On an even grander scale I hate that a lot of the slave/master plot themes were dropped because Klaus steals the show to ponder EVEN BIGGER questions like why the universe exists at all. Everyone is alive, and Rex (or the player, really) doesn't have to 'choose' between a girl cuz now they're both here, and they all seem to have their memories in place (despite what going back in the core crystal often entails). ![]() ![]() I was definitely disappointed that, besides not going through with Pyra/Mythra's dramatic exit, but that it really, really, really works out. Xenoblade 2 could have really used ONE sad zinger I hated watching the ending because I had a feeling little would be lost in a game where the stakes were so high. Monolith games have, for better or worse, often gone for the happy ending and kept the darker bits off screen.
